Serial Communication and the EIA232C Standard - Serial communication is the transmission of signals over a single line or channel. It can be visualized as a line of data bits transmitted in sequence, one after another. Serial transmission is usually used to transmit data between a computer and computer peripheral. Almost all PCs today have at least one serial port to connect it to other devices such as modems, plotters, etc.
The most common serial interface standard is RS232C or EIA232C established by the Electronics Industries Association (EIA). This standard specifies transmission at signal rates of 20 Kbps or less with a 15 meter maximum distance. EIA232C ports on PCs use either DB9 or DB25 male connectors with female hardware.
The biggest shortcoming of the EIA232C standard was its limited transmission distance and speed. EIA next introduced the EIA449/422/423 standard to increase these parameters. EIA499 defines the mechanical characteristics, whereas EIA422 and 423 specify the electrical interface. EIA449 utilizes cable terminated with 37 pin D-Subminiature connectors.
DB25-DB29 Serial Port Adapters and Cables
*Change From 9 to 25 and Vice Versa
DB25-DB29 Serial Port Adapters and Cables - Does your PC hava a DB9 serial port while your modem has a DB25? These handy adapters and cables can solve your interface problem. All are 100% shielded for applications where noise is abundant. Cables and high profile adapters have removable hex nuts to mate with PC ports having reverse hardware or peripherals with standard hardware. Low profile adapter comes with permanently mounted hex standoffs on DB9 side. Color: Beige.
DG and DGL types supplied with user removable hex nuts
EIA449 to EIA232 Adapter
*Resolves Interface Problems Between DB37 and DB25
EIA449 to EIA232 Adapter - Provides a low cost, efficient way to adapt EIA449 datacom equipment (DCE) to EIA232 data terminal equipment (DTE). The EIA449 port is a DB37 male connection, the EIA232 port is a DB25 female. The adapter is optimized for EIA423 unbalanced electrical signals.
Slimline DB9 or DB25 Adapters - Our series of Null Modems and Reversers are completely shielded. More important, their extremely low profile reduces leverage strain and breakage on the overstressed computer ports. The Null Modems shown are typical of our Slimline manufacturing techinque. These are also available in virtually any wiring configuration. OEM users are requested to send wiring data for our consideration.
DB9 HD15 and DB25 Low Profile 90º Adapters - Connecting cables in tight spaces can be a problem in many applications. These low profile adapters solve this problem by allowing cables to be connected at a 90 degree angle. Two versions are available for each connector size allowing for cables to exit in opposite directions. Adapters are male to female, fully shielded and are overmolded with gray PVC. Mating hardware is reversible allowing for use in virtually any application.

Slimline Block Ferrite Filter Adapters
*Eliminate Problem EMI in Computing Devices
Slimline Block Ferrite Filter Adapters - The plug-receptacle feed-thru adapter is a viable alternative solution for companies that need to rework (retrofit) existing designs in their effort to meet FCC regulations. Use these filtered D-Sub adpaters where it is necessary to limit electromagnetic interference (EMI). Easy installation, economical cost, low profile and fully shielded. Four D-Sub sizes available, supplied with Male-Female hardware. Engineers kit also available which contains one of each adapter in a plastic carrying case.
Slimline Ceramic Capcitive Filter Adapters - Filtering is the simpliest method of removing unwanted interference from withing a circuit. A capacitive filter is built into a male/female D-Sub adapter which provides an easy-to-use retrofit adapter. Although reasonably priced, there is a cost associated with capacitors and that is signal degradation, particularly in CMOS circuits with extremely low signal levels. Systems that transmit strong signals and can tolerate loss are well suited for capacitive filtering. The compact design allows an extremely low profile of only 0.2 in. Individually capcitance on each pin is 820pF. Also available in an engineer's kit of 4 adapters.
